This document outlines the supported test configurations for monitoring SAS and SATA
physical links using the LeCroy SASTracer protocol analyzer platform.
SASTracer 1 or 2 Port SAS Configurations

a. SASTracer configured for single
port operation with test setup to
monitor traffic passing between SAS
Initiator and SAS Device. This setup
reflects early development SAS HDD
prototypes that utilize SATA-I plug
connectors only on the HDD.
Standard SATA style internal
receptacle connectors and cables
may also be used to attach SAS
initiator directly to analyzer.


b. SASTracer configured for two
port operation with cable attachment
to monitor between dual ported
connectors on a SAS HDD and two
separate ports on a SAS initiator.
This setup reflects fut
