This application report describes the implementation of the Residu function on the TMS320C6000E(C6000E). The Residu function is a basic function in the GSM EFR and G.729 and other voice coding schemes. G.729 is an algorithm for the coding of speech signals at 8 kbit/s using conjugate-structure algebraic-code-excited linear-prediction
(CS-ACELP) while GSM EFR uses the ACELP coding scheme. The work presented in this report uses the Residu function as an example code to demonstrate that the C6000 compiler tools can achieve competitive performance compared to the estimated hand coded assembly.
