Why is electrical modeling of packages needed?
Integrated RF functions used in wireless applications cover a wide bandwidth leading to high frequency signals (2GHz, 4GHz, 5GHz, etc.) . At these frequencies, electromagnetic interferences are non neglectible. Modeling is used to integrate these effects in simulations.

In high speed digital: The package is the main source of noise (SSN). In RF functions: It is need to integrate the parasitics of the package at the beginning of the design (ampli adaptation, impedances matches). Cross-talk modeling help to choose the best leads to carry critical signals.
