Abstract― Slotless micro PMSMs are main magnetic micromotors. This paper discusses two design aspects of slotless micro PMSMs for high-performance and high-speed applications. One is the control principle without current control loops due to extremely small inductance. It will provide a simplified structure for control design compared to traditional PMSM drives. The second is the selection of sampling frequency of a digital servo controller for high-speed micro PMSM drives by considering the current harmonics. To verify the discussion results above, a micro PMSM of 6mm in diameter by 16mm in length of maxon motor, inc. is taken for the simulation.
