LDO Linear Regulator Improves White LED Brightness Matching

Abstract: A simple, traditional method of powering white light-emitting-diodes (LEDs) with fixed bias voltage
and ballast resistors result in poor brightness matching between LEDs. This is due to wide LED forward voltage
variation, sometimes as much as 1V. An inexpensive LDO linear regulator can improve brightness matching by
240% by regulating both LED current and bias voltage in response to the forward voltage of one of the LEDs.
