Battery Chargers Fulfill System Power Requirements and Charge
Batteries


Abstract:This application note discusses the importance of input current limiting for managing the cost and size of batteries and
AC adapters in mobile devices. Input current limiting monitors power requirements, adjusts charge current to batteries, and keeps
the power drain on an AC adapter within spec. The article presents two integrated battery chargers, the MAX1645A and
MAX1772, that fulfill the system power requirements while achieving a satisfactory charging time for the batteries.
