The release of DSP/BIOS II was a major upgrade to the product in that it extends the
event-driven paradigms of DSP/BIOS to include kernel multitasking as well as support for
queues, semaphores, mailboxes, and streaming I/O. This release was also a major upgrade
in terms of scalability; it gave the application developer an unprecedented opportunity to
control how much of the DSP/BIOS II kernel is actually placed in target memory, and to
optimize the tradeoff between memory usage and functionality.
