Layout Recommendations



Layer stack-up (assume a 6 layer board)


Layer 1 -RF traces and Components
Layer 2 - GND
Layer 3 - Signal
Layer 4 - Signal
Layer 5 - GND
Layer 6 - RF traces (and components if needed)

If it is difficult to have a complete ground layer, it is recommended that
good solid ground plane be maintained under CX74017 and RF traces.

Layer thickness

It is recommended that the layer under the component layers be ground. For
instance, if both layer 1 and layer 6 are used to place components, then
both layers 2 and 5 should be mostly ground. However, if ultra-thin
dielectric layers are used, it is preferred to have the copper cut out
under the RF traces and use the GND on the layer below, because with thin
dielectric layers, the DC resistance
